Make a Pysanka Egg
A pysanka is a Ukrainian Easter egg that is decorated with traditional
folk designs by using a wax-resist method. Many other eastern European ethnic
groups decorate eggs using wax resist for Easter Eggs. The decorated eggs are a
tradition in Ukraine this has been a craft practiced for thousands of year. The
person who is decorating the egg will draw a pattern on the egg with a special
pen and hot wax then will finish by applying dye to the egg. The wax protects the
covered areas from the dye leaving blank spaces where other colors can be applied.
The person making the design will repeat the process until the pattern is complete.
